Types of home painting
Exterior painting
Painting the exterior is a trickier and a demanding task because the house is exposed to all kinds of weather conditions from strong sun to storms and torrents of rain. These weather elements can play an adverse part in your exterior painting. Therefore, you must let the professionals do what they are best at. They would know what brand of paint to use for the exterior which can withstand harsh weather conditions, the type of painting technique, brushes, strokes, and coats required. You can assist the process by picking out a color scheme, combination, or contrast.
Interior painting
Interior painting can be a fun activity for the entire family. However certain things are to be considered before starting with painting homes indoors. Make sure that small children are kept away from the room. All furniture, carpets, fixtures, electronics, and drapery should either be removed or covered properly to avoid stains. Conduct research by comparing different paint brands or asking friends and other homeowners and ask for their recommendations. Experts advise using roller brushes for painting the walls and paint brushes to use for corners.
Selection of Painting
The painting color should be selected according to the type of room. The selection of paints for exterior and interior walls should be different. Exterior walls should have two coats of paint. Before painting walls must be cleaned and coated with primer. The bedrooms and drawing room should be painted with light colors. To avoid banality neighbor’s house colors should not be copied for painting. Do not use the same colors for the roof and walls. Using light colors for walls makes the building look larger. Beams can be painted with dark colors.
Painting a Ceiling
Avoid painting the ceilings white. In fact, white is quite a poor ceiling color choice as it attracts dirt and dust easily. Also darker ceilings add a sense of warmth to a large room, especially if it is furnished sparsely. As for smaller rooms they can be opened up with a few coats of light, pastel-colored ceiling paint. Dark-painted ceilings can impart a reflected look by opting for a gloss or eggshell finish. On the other hand, for a ceiling that is textured in some way – especially for acoustic or popcorn ceilings – a matte finish paint is an ideal choice to allow the texture to shine through as it should. But even it is sensible for a homeowner to tackle painting a few walls themselves and leave the painting of the ceiling to a professional since it is a messy, tricky, and potentially rather dangerous job.
