With the highly insulating Ytong blocks and the Multipor insulation boards, Xella presents budget-friendly, sustainable, and ecological solutions for the post-insulation of an existing home during the Bis fair. In addition, Xella presents the latest generation of YTONG aerated concrete blocks that enable low-energy and passive construction without additional insulation and with a minimal finish, and Silka sand-lime brick blocks for excellent acoustic and thermal walls.
Insulate interior and exterior walls with Multipor and Ytong
If you want to keep the original facade during a renovation, internal insulation of the walls is often the only option to improve the thermal insulation. Multipor insulation boards are suitable for all common types of solid walls without vapor barriers. The panels are glued to the existing walls and can then be easily finished with a Multiport finishing layer and an interior plaster.
Ytong aerated concrete is a stone-like material that is both load-bearing and insulating, which makes the material very suitable for renovations or extensions. Ytong blocks do not unnecessarily burden the existing support structure and no additional insulation is required when used as an outer wall. They can also function as an interior wall by placing them next to an existing exterior wall as a retaining wall. The smooth inner wall can easily be finished with thin plaster.
Passive construction and low-energy construction with Ytong without extra insulation
With the latest generation of Ytong low-energy blocks and the latest super-insulating Ytong Energy+ aerated concrete block, Xella breaks the myth that passive and low-energy construction requires complex insulation techniques. The Ytong building system offers a total solution with which low-energy or passive houses can be built from basement to roof without additional insulation material.
The latest Ytong Low Energy blocks have been specially developed for buildings without cavity insulation, from EPB to passive. If you want to build passive walls, use the thickest blocks of 50 cm. They provide a U-value below 0.15 W/m²K for the outer walls.
The Ytong Low Energy blocks do not require additional insulation because aerated concrete is an insulating material in itself, which is also load-bearing at the same time. This saves not only the cost of insulation material but also the installation cost. Moreover, the installation of insulation material is a complex matter that is not always perfectly executed in practice. The classic problem of rising dampness due to poorly placed insulation in the cavity wall does not exist when building with Ytong.
Cold bridges are much easier to solve when building without cavity insulation with an insulating Ytong low-energy bearing wall. Finally, when the roof is also made of aerated concrete, the entire outer shell of the house consists of EPB-accepted building nodes.
Ytong Low Energy combines insulation capacity with the advantages of massive load-bearing material. This sustainable, environmentally friendly material makes it possible to build in a budget-conscious energy-efficient, low-energy, or passive way without the risk of unacceptable construction knots.
The Ytong Energy+ block is a super-insulating building block made of aerated concrete that is sustainable over the entire life cycle and can also be 100% recycled. This revolutionary block consists of three super-insulating layers and is therefore a strong example of innovative technology in building materials. It integrates the functions of insulation, load-bearing wall, and facade and thus makes it possible to build solid walls without adding insulation material or cavity.
